Moving to Thailand for Six Months of Muay Thai
· 5 min read

In November 2026 I'm leaving Berlin to spend six months in Thailand training Muay Thai. Not a holiday with a few sessions on the side — an immersive stay where training is the main thing I do every day.
A year and a bit of three sessions a week taught me the basics and, more usefully, how much I don't know yet. A lot of what I've been taught in Berlin traces back to Thailand in one way or another, and I want to learn it at the source: the rhythm of daily training, how gyms are run, the culture around the sport that no class here can fully reproduce.
The open questions are practical ones. How my body copes with two sessions a day after a routine built around three a week. How to choose a gym by how it actually trains rather than how it markets itself. And what I'm really aiming for over six months — I'm not preparing to fight, I'm preparing to get properly better.
Until I leave, I'm keeping my Berlin routine going and adding conditioning, so the first weeks are about learning rather than just surviving. This journal comes with me, and the entries will shift from notes on training in Berlin to notes from the road.
